A Winning Start: Cocktails for a Cause Derby Kickoff Party

Each Moment We’re Alive (EMWA) tipped its hat and raised a glass at our inaugural Derby Kickoff Party: Cocktails for a Cause — and what a night it was. In true Derby style, over 150 guests gathered in their finest hats and boldest bowties for an evening of handcrafted cocktails, lively music, and spirited fun — all in support of cancer survivors in our EMWA network.

Thanks to our partnership with Gary Rome Hyundai and the incredible generosity of our sponsors and supporters, we proudly met our fundraising goal. The funds will directly benefit our Living A New Day (L.A.N.D.) programs, support groups, and wellness resources — helping survivors navigate life after cancer.

A highlight of the night was the racehorse dice game showdown between Holyoke’s Mayor Joshua Garcia and West Springfield’s Mayor Will Reichelt, sparking friendly competition and big laughs. From festive attire and delicious food to cocktails, desserts, raffle prizes, and heartfelt survivor stories, the evening was a celebration of community and resilience.
