More Than a Menu: A Meeting That Meant Something

When Tony Basile & I met at Summit View to go over the menu for our upcoming fundraiser, it was more than just deciding on a menu.
On the surface, it was a planning meeting, food selections, presentation, flow of the evening
But truthfully, it was much more than that. Tony and I come from completely different arenas, but we share the same kind of passion for what we do.
We spent time talking about that. Tony spoke about his passion for Summit view, and you could feel it immediately. This isn’t just a business for him; it’s a craft he takes seriously. He shared the impact of his mentor, Mike Hamel, who groomed him for years. That kind of mentorship, learning side by side, putting in time, being held to a standard is something you don’t see talked about enough anymore. But it matters. It shapes how people show up.
And Tony shows up. What stood out most was his gratitude. He hasn’t forgotten the community that supported him along the way, and now he’s committed to giving back to that same community in a meaningful way.
That tells you everything you need to know about a person. For Tony, this is personal. He and his wife have experienced loss through cancer. So, this isn’t just another event he’s catering, it’s something he feels.
And when people bring both heart and skill to the table, it changes everything. We laughed, we joked, but underneath it all was a shared understanding:
This is about supporting cancer survivors after treatment, when the real challenges begin. Because the reality is, support doesn’t end when treatment ends. In many ways, that’s when people need it most.
That’s exactly why Each Moment We’re Alive exists. Because life after cancer isn’t about going back to who you were—it’s about learning how to move forward, one moment at a time.
And no one should have to do that alone.
On April 18, 2026 we’re not just hosting an event, we’re bringing people together to remind survivors that they are seen, supported, and not forgotten.
That their story didn’t end with treatment. In many ways, it’s just beginning.
This is what it means to truly show up for one another.
We hope you’ll be part of it.
Join us. Support. Stand with us.
Because every moment matters—and together, we help make them stronger.
